Half Day Fish Cookery Course – Part 2

For anyone who loves cooking fish, or would like to improve your fish cookery skills, and for those of you who have already attended our first fish cookery course and are hankering for more, here is our Fish Cookery Course part two…


In this relaxed and friendly cookery class you’ll be learning how to cook gurnard, skate and mackerel using three different cooking methods.


At the end of the course, you will be able to take various elements home in order to show off your new-found skills to family and friends.


We use the freshest fish from local fishmongers, meaning you get to cook with the cream of the catch from South West waters.


We will always be guided by the advice and availability of our suppliers, and so there may be a variation on the fish you cook with during this course. However, if there is a specific fish that you are especially keen to learn more about, do tell us in advance and we will do our best to make sure we can include your favourite fish within this half day fish cookery course.

Techniques learnt:

  • Fish cookery
  • Pan-frying
  • Making a Sauce Gribiche
  • Poaching fish

These are examples of the kind of dishes you could be making:

  • Pan-Fried Fillets of Gurnard with a seasonal accompaniment
  • Skate Wing with Brown Butter and Capers (a classic fish dish)
  • Poached Mackerel with Sauce Gribiche (this local and sustainable fish is gently poached in a fish bouillon and served with a posh Tartare sauce)
