Half Day Cake Baking Course

HALF DAY COURSE (9:30am - 12:00pm / 2:00pm - 4:30pm)

On our half day cake baking course you’ll spend a happy morning or afternoon just baking cakes.

Along the way you’ll learn what makes a good cake well risen and moist, and gain an insight into the chemistry of baking.

You’ll make two cakes: a classic Victoria Sponge and a Chocolate Roulade, and you even get to take home the fruits of your labour to share with family and friends.

Techniques learnt:

  • Greasing and lining cake tins
  • Creaming method
  • All-in-one method
  • Baking times and temperatures
  • How to tell when your cake is done
  • Make Creme Chantilly
  • Fill and roll a chocolate roulade
  • Cooling prior to filling and frosting
  • Storing

You will make:

  • Victoria Sponge
  • Chocolate Roulade (Swiss Roll)
