Adapting ideas and working methods from their previous cookery school in France Jim and Lucy have kitted out the teaching kitchen with an eye to detail and sound working methods. For instance, the state of the art Gaggenau electric fan ovens, gas hobs, fridges and freezers are all domestic grade so are designed to be as unintimidating as possible while being ultra-reliable and accurate.
Two moveable central islands, handmade by local company Chunky Monkey, are fabricated of heavy gauge blackened steel and reclaimed English oak. The modern kitchen units and surfaces, provided by Sapphire Spaces in Topsham, are ultra- modern and resilient to the knocks and high temperatures of a semi-industrial kitchen.
Warmth is provided by underfloor heating and there is a cosy lounge area furnished with vintage leather sofas and a coffee table brought over form the Fishers’ French farm.
